Jeanette and I went to a great concert this weekend BFD ’07. Lots of good bands and some quality time away from the kids. We didn’t quite last the entire time (only like noon to 10pm), but still got our fill.
Some highlights:
- Most surprisingly good band: The Bravery — Similar to The Cure, with a great sound
- Band with the best bassist: Tiger Army — Not just a bass guitar, but a real bass (blue, even)
- Band most self-involved dancing: Interpol
- Band with the worst sound mix guy: Silver Sun Pickups — Totally distorted for half their show, but still pretty good.
- Best vocals, and best use of a champagne bottle in a song: Cold war kids
- Band most in need of an identity: CSS — They had their “rock song”, “dance song”, “R&B song”, and thankfully their “last song”…
- Band with most tween testosterone: Sum 41
- Most forgettable band: A tie between Street to Nowhere and Kaiser Chiefs
Overall, a good time and I’d go again.
Big thanks to Lynn and Mike for watching the kids. (They had their first sleepover!)
